Revolutionizing the Surf Industry
LetsSurf is a startup in the surf industry connecting local surfers with surfer wannabes around the world, with the touch of a finger.
I teamed up with Mad Designs to help facilitate a new design from a UX standpoint. As part of the brief, I looked at multiple survey responses, market research as well as industry standards to address best solutions for LetsSurf’s users.
RESEARCH FINDINGS
Using data from our surveys, we were able to collect insights on user needs, goals, and frustrations pertaining to LetsSurf’s key experience. An underlying pattern pointed us to the concept of Trust — both users needed a sense of trust and reliability before committing to the app.

COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
According to Ted Talk "Power of Design", Airbnb was rooted for their core strengths surrounding trust; more specifically, building user relationships around language and content. I conducted a comparative analysis which helped identify key features such as a filter system, user reviews, and in-app messaging.

PROTOTYPE & TESTING
Some more testing...
I created a prototype to test on target users at a marketing event. (10 users)
- Major findings:
- Typography was too small and faint
- Users wanted the ability to message surfers before booking lessons
- Users were more concerned about the legitimacy of instructors as opposed to price
